An American man has completed a really snappy challenge, after successfully managing to capture a 12 foot alligator.
Clark Woodsby, from Lakeland, Florida, managed to snare the 719-pound
beast, after using an electronic call which mimics the noise of an
alligator.
He explained: ‘We called him in with an electronic call’.
‘This gator heard it from across the lake, and it came bee-lining right toward me.’
After attracting the attentions of the swamp-dwelling creature, it
proceeded to move within 20 yards of Woods and fellow hunter Glen
Grizaffe, at which point the electric call was turned off.
They then proceeded to shoot the alligator with a crossbow, before
using a combination of a hook and rope to hoist the creature into a
boat.
The pair were enlisted to hunt the beast after Mr Grizaffe, who owns
an alligator processing plant, was contacted by a homeowner who had
spotted the creature on their property. Although the creature is an impressive haul, the longest alligator
captured in Florida measured 14 feet, 3 ½ inches, while the heaviest
weighed 1,043 pounds.
