PHOTOS: Argentinian town honours Messi, Aguero and Di Maria in the most unusual way!
One Argentinian town has honoured the country’s national football team in a unique way – by naming a number of streets after Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Angel Di Maria.
El Chanar, which is located in the north-western province of Tucuman, decided to pay homage to the team that reached the World Cup final in Brazil this summer by re-naming several roads after some of the stars of the losing Argentina side.
Captain Messi, for example, has a street named after him, which intersects a road named after Manchester City striker Aguero.
Manchester United winger Di Maria has been honoured in a similar way while people can also make the unusual boast of saying they live on Pablo Zabaleta and Javier Mascherano street.
‘My sister lives on Di Maria (street) and believes that’s a good omen because her son plays in the same position as that player,’ one resident said.
How cool!
