Man United star is hero after saving life of young fan

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has been hailed a hero in his native Colombia – after helping save the life of a young fan.

Falcao was approached three months ago by the desperate mother of John Uyaban; a 17-year-old boy with a rare blood type, who has spent the last two years searching for a heart donor.


He was given just months to live, but United ace Falcao stepped in and helped track down a new heart.

John’s mother, Helena Fernandez, explained what happened in the Colombian media.

‘Falcao said immediately he’d set to the task of finding a heart,’ she said. ‘We don’t know how he did it, or who brought the heart, but he did it.

‘We thank God that everything went well.’

John had his operation this week, and is now set to be released from hospital within the next 20 days.
