Michael Sam (r.) and boyfriend Vito Cammisano (l.) are reportedly getting engaged.
Should i say congrats to them?

Michael Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay player, and his longtime boyfriend, Vito Cammisano. According to a TMZ report, the couple recently got engaged.

The engagement took place in Rome, reports Page Six. The couple has been vacationing in Europe since Dec. 30.

Sam has been dating Cammisano since their college days at the University of Missouri. The couple made headlines last year when they shared an emotional hug and kiss, which was aired on television, following the news that Sam had been drafted by the St. Louis Rams.

Chatting about marriage in an Oprah Winfrey Network documentary that aired last month, Sam said he hoped to tie the knot some day and that he was crossing his fingers that the special someone would be Cammisano.

"I think if someone wants to spend the rest of their lives with another person, by all means, do that," Sam said. "It's all about equality."

Though some commenters have said his sexuality may have jeopardized his NFL career, Sam insists he has no regrets about coming out.

"I don't like to think that way," the 25-year-old said in the OWN documentary. "But I do believe I'm a very talented football player and I'm going to continue working hard and try to get that opportunity to play in the league."

Hmm... i guess gays are vexing o! they are not hiding anything anymore! #endtime
