The True Test Of Maturity - David Okoye

"For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?” 1 Corinthians 3:3 (AMP)

The quality of self caution cannot be over emphasized in the house of the Lord.

Many times as we grow in the Lord and in our interaction with the world, if one is not careful he begins to reduce his God given standards in this process of interaction. The first time I came across this scripture, I had to examine myself thoroughly.

Being spiritual is beyond speaking in tongues and winning souls for Christ. The criterion for spirituality is not in the ability to manifest the presence and power of God. Being spiritual is maturity. Maturity is your ability to respond like God would.

Imagine how hurting and saddening it was for Apostle Paul, to tell the church at Corinthians that they were yet carnal. How do you think God sees you? The scripture says to judge ourselves that we will not be judged (1 Corinthians 11:31). How do you see those in the household of faith with you? Our opening verse tells us that when our heart can accommodate envying, strife, jealousy, wrangling and divisions amongst ourselves, we are yet carnal. And a carnal mind cannot receive anything from the Lord (it’s in enmity with God)

Be the believer that God prides in, the one he knows at every time will follow peace with all men and holiness. Never feel anyone in the house of God is your enemy. We have a common enemy which is the devil, and he is constantly devising means to ensure we are not unified in purpose; he knows that a united front, nothing can defeat and a divided house cannot stand.

Be wiser than the devil. Let love and patience have her perfect work in you, that you may be thoroughly furnished unto every good work.

DECLARATION
I follow peace with all men and holiness. I grow above envying, strife, jealousy and anything contrary to the will of God for my life.
