Police have charged an 18-year-old man with murder after his father was found dead late Saturday night at a condo in North York.

It happened on Pemberton Avenue, near Yonge Street and Finch Avenue.

Uchenna Onochie is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Aloy Onochie, 61.
There’s no word on a cause of death, but police said that the victim was suffering from blunt force trauma injuries.


It’s the city’s second homicide of 2015.

Emergency task force (ETF) officers were brought in to negotiate with a man who had barricaded himself inside Finch subway station, a block away from the condo.

Police were called around 10:30 p.m. Saturday about reports of a man with a knife.

“Officers located a male who was suffering from apparent self-inflicted wounds,” Det. Robert North said on Sunday. “Fortunately our ETF officers were able to negotiate the surrender of that male peacefully (and) he was taken into custody.”

Uchenna Onochie was removed from the station and taken into custody around 2 a.m.
