Torres scores first Atletico goal v Real after 46 seconds, Twitter reacts with memes
Fernando Torres showed Chelsea fans that he still has the goals in him after netting a superb strike for Atletico Madrid in their Copa del Rey second-leg tie against rivals Real Madrid.
The Spanish striker opened his goal-scoring account for boyhood club Atleti – who he joined from the Blues in December – at the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday after netting an impressive strike just 46 seconds in to the game.
Antoine Griezmann started the move that led to the goal when he made a fine run down the left flank before curling the ball past Sergio Ramos to Torres, who was waiting in the box.
The 30-year-old then finished off the move in fine fashion after he drove the ball in with his first touch to give Atletico a 1-0 (3-0 aggregate) lead in the tie.
With Torres’ strike being his first-ever against Real in an Atleti shirt, fans took to Twitter to express their surprise at the striker’s good start to life back in Spain with the use of some rather comical memes… See it below: lol
