Cristiano Ronaldo voted greatest Premier League player EVER – ahead of Thierry Henry
Cristiano Ronaldo may have been lighting up Spain’s top-flight with his scintillating Real Madrid performances for years now, but it seems fans still regard the former Manchester United winger highly – after voting him as the Premier League’s greatest-ever player.
In a survey conducted by Usurv for PA Sport, Ronaldo’s hugely successful six years at Old Trafford clearly left its mark on supporters after 177 of 747 people asked chose the Portuguese as the best player to have ever graced England’s top-flight – ahead of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and ex-United man Ryan Giggs.
The survey – which took in to account 1000 fans’ answers but removed those who chose ‘other/don’t know’ – also found that men and women almost equally went for the Real winger.
Despite Henry scoring numerous goals for Arsenal and being part of the Gunners’ Invincibles side of 2003-04, the Frenchman came in second place with 18% of the votes while Giggs took third spot on 13%.
After winning his third Ballon d’Or award last month, we reckon Ronaldo will be pretty pleased to see the results of the survey – especially as it comes on his 30th birthday.
Who is the Premier League's greatest-ever player? Ronaldo or Henry?
