WhatsApp to be discontinued on BlackBerry and Nokia phones
Earlier this week, the messaging app hit one billion active users, double the number it had before its £13.7billion acquisition by Facebook.
Now it has announced that the app will be discontinued on BlackBerry and Nokia operating systems by next year.
'As we look ahead to our next seven years, we
want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use,' the
company wrote in a blog post.
WhatsApp suggests users of those devices 'upgrade to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone', The Verge reports, (or, presumably, find a different messaging app.)
