Former wrestling star and actor Joan Marie Laurer, better known by her ring name Chyna, has died aged 45.
The one-time WWE performer and bodybuilder was found dead in her bed,
her management confirmed to ABC7 Entertainment’s George Pennacchio, who
broke the news on Twitter.

that her death may have come about as a result of a possible overdose,
with Chyna openly admitting to drug problems earlier in her career.
Chyna was one of the big names in female wrestling, winning the
WWE Women’s Championship and also enjoying victories
over high-profile male wrestlers, including Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris
Jericho and Jeff Jarrett.

Chyna has been described as leaving ‘a lasting legacy as the most
dominant female competitor of all time’, and also later branched out
into acting and modelling.
Tributes have been pouring in on social media, with her official
accounts confirming the news by saying: ‘It is with deep sadness to
inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero.

‘Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed
away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and
all of us that loved her.’
Police are still investigating the details of her death.
