Alex Iwobi handed Alexis Sanchez's old Arsenal squad number

Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi has been rewarded for his impressive season with Alexis Sanchez’s old No.17 shirt, the club has confirmed.

The 20-year-old’s form towards the end of the season represented one of the few bright spots in what was an otherwise largely disappointing campaign for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Iwobi, who scored on his full Premier League debut against Everton, has relinquished the No.45 shirt in favour of the Chile international’s former squad number, after the ex Barcelona forward inherited Tomas Rosicky’s No.7 shirt.

In other squad number related news, new signing Granit Xhaka has taken the No.16 shirt, while Aaron Ramsey will now wear No.8 following club captain Mikel Arteta’s departure.
