Star Mpama is a multi-talented teenager, studying music at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
The 20yr-old Model, Dancer, Music instructor and sprinter opens up with AsbGist Nigeria about her life, passion, family and relationship during a chat with Akeem Rotimi, founder of AsbGist. Read full interview below:
Tell us about yourself
My name is Mpama Star Chioma or Oma, I hail from Ikuawno local government area in Abia State. I come from a family of two, presently studying music at University Of Nigeria Nsukka.
Okay, so what do you do apart from being a student?
Modelling, sports and music
Have you been in any pageantry before or competition?
Yes a few of them. Beauty Africa International Pageant, where I was Miss Niger and a top ten finalist, Most Beautiful Girl in Bwari, Abuja. I am currently Miss Bwari Tourism and finally Miss Music UNN. For sport a lot of competition though, I was the 800meters gold medalist at athletics of Hope Northern Zone 2008. Best graduating athlete federal government college Rubochi 2012 and lots more.
Wow! I must confess that's awesome! So how was your experience winning those pageantry and gold medal in sport?
Hmm it's been God all the way

I felt great, brave and honored
So, which do you intend to take to the next level in the future. Modeling or Sport?
Both of them
Really? So how do you intend combining both and then music?
For music I intend to become a teacher, for sport I intend to get a gold internationally and for modelling refine the world and name 'models'
Are you planning to contest on any of the top pageantry in Nigeria? Such as MBGN, Miss Nigeria etc...
Yes, but not MBGN

Tell us, what's your favourite food?
Food well prepared is my favourite

My dad is a Deliverance Pastor and my mum a retired Banker. My younger brother is still in secondary school

You said you are studying Music in UNN, why Music?
Am working according to purpose and it's God's fulfilling plans for me to study music. I am a born Musicologist
Hmm, talking about God, are you a Christian?
Yes I am
That's great, so who are your role models?
My pastor, Pastor Joshua Moses.
What about those relating to what you do?
Well for Modeling Agbani Derego. For sport Blessing Okagbare. For music none but God
Okay, so tell us, Are you in a relationship? *Smiling*

On your choices of career or rather careers, how supportive are your parents?
Very. I bless God for my loving parents. They have been with me all the way, although some objections popped up but they choose to understand me
Do you want to share with us what those objections are and in which area of your career?
Well for music they believe there is no career to make out of it, as for sports dad is 100% fully in support just mum believe I would become muscular. For modelling, they trust me enough to make the right decisions

Music
So, any message to aspiring Models, Students, Christians, Sprinters and of course Musicians out there?
For those aspiring models I want to say being a model with principles and values, you don't have be someone else or please someone to obtain a crown, let your light shine. For sprinters determination and hard work is the way. For musicians hard work and God crowns it all.
