Iheanacho, Ideye & Ighalo On Target As Nigeria Beat Luxembourg in Friendly Match
Super Eagles strikers were on fire in today's friendly match against Luxembourg.
Brown Ideye, Kelechi Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo all scored as the Super Eagles beat Luxembourg 3-1 in a friendly match.
The Eagles, who had also beaten their Malian counterparts in another test game last Friday, were keen to sustain the momentum against their hosts in Tuesday’s game.
Interim Super Eagles Coach, Salisu Yusuf, made six changes to the team that started out the game against Mali and that seemed to work out well.
Ideye, who was given a starting role proved his mettle, scoring the first goal of the game in the 36th minute. His first goal in two games since his return to the national team after being absent for almost three years.
Though the Eagles dominated play, they only had a 1-0 lead going to half time. In the second half, Iheanacho added another goal for Nigeria in 69th minute to make scores 2-0. However the hosts pulled one back after a defensive slip by Kenneth Omeruo.
Late substitute Odion Ighalo scored in the 90th minute to end the match 3-1.
