Mourinho demands Woodward makes FOUR signings to make Man United title challengers

Jose Mourinho has issued Ed Woodward with a shortlist of players in four key areas in which he intends to strengthen to make Manchester United title challengers next season.

The 53-year-old will be announced as Louis van Gaal’s replacement later this week after agreeing a three-year deal to replace the Dutchman.


The Red Devils finished fifth in last season’s Premier League and are unable to offer Champions League football to prospective targets.

Van Gaal’s decision to trim the squad last summer left United short in attack and defence and Mourinho has given Woodward a wishlist of players that he’d like to bring to the club.

Ibrahimovic could be Mourinho’s first signing

The Portuguese boss is keen to strengthen in four key areas with a centre-back partner for Chris Smalling thought to be a priority, while a dynamic central midfielder and a speedy right winger are also preferences.

The former Chelsea boss is also keen to bring in a top striker, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic the most likely arrival.

Michael Carrick is also set to be handed a new one-year deal.
