Saturday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet 11th June) - Faithfulness In Stewardship
“And the Lord said, Who then is that
faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his
household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?” Luke 12:42
A steward is someone who has been given some resources at his disposal/discretion for him to account of it in due time. God sees everyone as stewards; but only few of the lot are faithful.
A steward who is not informed of the work and demand on him is in trouble because ignorance will not exonerate anyone. So many Christians have the mindset that we work for God and it is a privilege and when He comes, He will reward us.
This mindset is not wrong but many fail to recognize that between the time when we stand before Him and when He rewards us, there is a gap. That gap is filled with accounting. That is where you would give account for every resources put at your disposal for His work. Note this, the resources is not completely about finances. Your time is one of the resources God gave to you and you would account for it.
Because many Christians do not know this, they feel so relaxed and can even prioritize other things over their work for God and their walk with God. They place comfort over purpose.
This was the first temptation Jesus faced when He was tempted by the devil; comfort over purpose. So many Christians have fallen for this temptation.
For God to require you to give account of these things, you have got to recognize how important it is to Him. When God considers you faithful and wise as a steward, He makes you ruler over His household. Potiphar saw that faithfulness and wisdom in Joseph and made him prime minister over all of Egypt.
Everything you own and have you did not achieve by the power of your hands. They were committed into your hands. Faithfulness is one of the principles to increase.
An unfaithful man cannot prosper. Faithfulness is tested in very little things. God would keep testing your faithfulness. The more you pass, the more He increases you. The work in your hands would not last forever. There is a time to give account. It does not matter how hard or how stressful the work may seem; know that God has given you all you need and you would account for it in due time.
DECLARATION
I recognize my duties as a steward. I am accountable, faithful and wise.
SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE
1 Corinthians 4:1(AMP)
