Pacquiao promoter calls out Mayweather over rematch
Manny Pacquiao’s rematch with Floyd Mayweather would have to take place during the Filipino’s off time from the Senate, according to his promoter Bob Arum.
The former world champion announced his retirement in April last year and is currently representing the Filipino people in government while 39-year-old Mayweather is also retired.
Pacquiao’s bout with Mayweather a year ago was one of the biggest fights in history with the American coming out on top after a unanimous decision from the judges and Arom has suggested that if there was to be a rematch, it would have to be in the capital Manila, where the Senate resides.
‘Let him come over to Manila [to talk about a rematch] and maybe Manny will take off from a session in the Senate,’ Arum told boxingscene.com
‘If he comes to Manila, I’m sure the Senate will accommodate Manny.’
‘Manny Pacquiao has been elected by the people in the Philippines to be one of their 24 senators. That’s an obligation that he has.
There has yet to be a response form Mayweather about a potential rematch in Manila, but the American boxer has teased recently that he would like to return to ring to fight UFC’s Conor McGregor.
