Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet 13th June) - Recognize Your Place As A Steward

“Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

When God talks about stewards He talks about profitability and productivity. For God to make you a blessing, God has got to find you worthy or faithful as a steward. He has got to see you faithful in the things He has given you.

From our opening text, God shows us that there is a strong similarity between the office of a steward and that of a minister of the gospel.

God expects that a minister, like a steward, should be devoted to his Master's service. That is, he has got to offer reasonable service.

A service is termed reasonable when the one being served is satisfied with the service. A man trained to be a leader becomes a tyrant but a man trained to be a steward becomes a Son. God does not want to make tyrants out of us. For this reason, we ought to see ourselves as stewards.

As a steward, you do not have ownership of anything. All you have are possessions; because whatever belongs to a steward is owned by His master. All you have, God gave to you.

Haggai 2:8 tells us, “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.” The things you have, you do not own them. When you act like you do, God finds you unfaithful as a steward.

As stewards, God has entrusted the welfare of the kingdom in our hands. For every resource He has given to us, He expects us to recognize our place as stewards and channel these resources to the expansion of His kingdom.

The supreme quality required in a steward is fidelity and trust. This is required particularly because it is an office of trust; because the master's goods are at the stewards’ disposal.

Refuse to become lackadaisical and half hearted towards the Masters work. God requires faithfulness from you.

DECLARATION
I recognize my place as a steward. I refuse to be relaxed concerning the expansion of the kingdom.
