Saturday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet 16th July, 2016) - For This Course

Pastor David Okoye
“And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless, not what I will, but, what thou wilt.” Mark 14:36

This scripture shows that Jesus was as human as we are. As much as He was 100% God, He was also 100% man.

Hebrews 4:15 tells “For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” It is often easy for may to say things like “God understands my limitations, after all I am only human”

What such Christians have failed to understand is, that Jesus being God came in the form of a man, and lived and overcame as a man with all the limitations of the flesh so we being men could live the life of God without limitation.

He had a will and could make choices. Our opening text shows us that towards the end of his earthly ministry, His will was for the cup to be taken from Him. But in spite of what he yearned for, He was still able to recognize that the One whose will counts above anything else is the Father. And He subjected His will to The Father.

Choose to be like Jesus every day of your life. Irrespective of your personal feelings or desires, always submit to the Will of your Father in your life. He will never enforce His will on you, but leaves you with the choice.

Hebrews 12:2 tells “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of God..”

The God-child who does not set aside his will and take up the Fathers business will never reign in life.

PRAYER
Lord, work in me both to will and to do of your good pleasure. I receive the grace to be obedient till the end.
