Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet 18th July, 2016) - Look To The Word

“And Moses made a serpent of bronze and put it on a pole, and if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of bronze [attentively, expectantly, with a steady and absorbing gaze], he lived.” Numbers 21:9 (AMP)

Our opening text is an excerpt of the story of the brazen serpent. When the children of Israel sinned against God and He sent serpents to bite them and many died.

When the people of God cried out to Him for mercy and salvation and Moses pleads to the Lord on their behalf, God instructed him to make a brazen serpent and hang in on a tree and if any that man is bitten can only BEHOLD this serpent, he will live.

The miracle the children of Israel saw on this day was so great and miraculous. The miracle of the brazen serpent is a prototype of the life we ought to live in this dispensation.

Many as they walk with the Lord don't know who and what to look up to. The Israelites were instructed to look at the serpent of bronze in order for them to live.

The text above transcribes the word 'behold' as written in the KJV to mean look and amplifies it thus: “…looked to… [attentively, expectantly with a steady and absorbing gaze]…”

For the God-child in this dispensation to survive amidst life’s challenges, he has to consistently look to Jesus. Little wonder Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”

The psalmist understood this which is why he said in Psalms 121:1-2I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

Stop looking around and look up to God. The success of your life is not dependent on your abilities or background but on how well you look to the Word of God.

DECLARATION
My help comes from God. I focus on God's word rather than the challenges. I'm finishing strong.
