Thursday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet 14th July, 2016) - You Are a Son

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are they the sons of God.” Romans 8:14

Our Lord Jesus speaking in John 10:27 said “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” The AMP says “The Sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow me.” The MSG says “My sheep recognize my voice...” You see, every true son has the ability to recognize the voice of his fathers.

For many no irrespective of how the father tunes his voice, once he is the one speaking, the son can discern that it is indeed him. And to every trained Son, the words of his father is held in the highest esteem and regard. Many in the house of God have not come to realize that the same ought to apply in our relationship with the Lord.

There are three ways through which God speaks to us in this dispensation. Firstly, through His Word; so when a Son of God pays no heed to the Word of God then he is despising the place of his training and prosperity in the family.

The second way God speaks to us is through our Pastors and Leaders in the house of God. While many seek to overlook this part, it is quite important for the Child of God. When a God-child cannot hear or be led by the one God has placed over him, he cannot prosper.

The third way God speaks to us is by His Spirit.

A Son esteems the instructions of his father to ensure they are carried out to the latter.

The God-child ought to have the same mind-set in his work with God and with the leaders that have been placed over Him. Our opening text says “For as many as are led…” The word led shows that there is a following. If you are being led, it invariably means you are following.

Your proof of son-ship is in your ability to follow If you are His sheep, then you've got to incline your ears rightly in these three categories. True sons will always be graced to do the work even in the midst of challenges and experience victory at the end.

DECLARATION
I am led by God's Spirit. I hear and follow against all odds – not despising the authority he has placed above me.
