Lionel Messi makes Champions League history with Barcelona hat-trick
Lionel Messi has made Champions League history with his hat-trick in Barcelona’s 7-0 victory over Celtic.
The Argentine has scored six hat-tricks in the competition, and is now one clear of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi’s treble took his overall tally to 50 goals in the group stages, one ahead of Ronaldo and level with former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Neymar’s sublime free-kick, plus Luis Suarez’s double and Andres Iniesta’s strike also helped Barca to a comfortable victory over the Scottish champions at Camp Nou.
