Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet 24th October 2016) - Be Slow To Wrath
“The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.” Proverbs 15:28
Our opening text tells us that the heart of the righteous studies to answer; he does not just speak irrespective of the situation. The AMP rendering says “The mind of the [uncompromisingly] righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.]” There is a HOW to answer every situation and a WHAT to answer.
The God-child studies on something to answer. To study is to revise materials already learned against forgetfulness or on something that is given. Showing that, you cannot study on something you don't know.
This tells that the heart of the righteous drives on something to be able to answer rightly; that is the Word of the Lord. The Word of God is our mirror in life, as we look at who we really are, from where we are, we position ourselves rightly by our tongues to align with who we are.
When a man's anger is tested, that's often when his value and heart is proven.
Did you notice in our opening text, that the Lord does not consider one wicked because one does evil or wicked things, but He considers you wicked when your mouth pour out evil things. And when your mouth pours out evil things, God can’t do anything with you.
This is the reason why the words of some of God's children, fall to the ground. Scripture tells us “doth a fountain send for that the same place sweet water and bitter water?” the preceding verses tells us why God asked this question, “therewith bless we God, and even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing.”
Study how to answer and see the Lord work on everything you say.
DECLARATION
I am consistent with my words. The words I speak are super effective because I speak in line with the Word of God every day of my life. Amen.
