Thousands of women are sharing their sexual abuse stories in response to Donald Trump’s ‘by the p***y’ comments.

ICYMI, the republican presidential candidate sparked outrage on Friday after a 2005 video of him was released in which he made a series of crude remarks about women.

In the video, released by The Washington Post and NBC News, Mr Trump says: ‘When you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.’

In response, Canadian writer Kelly Oxford called on women to tweet about their sexual abuse stories, after sharing the first time she was assaulted on a bus at 12 years old.

Oxford received around 50 tweets per minute for 14 hours, leading her to write: ‘Anyone denying rape culture, look at my timeline now.’

Worryingly, a lot of the attacks took place when the women involved were children.

Others responded describing how they were raped on a number of occasions.

Oxford said she was left in ‘horrendous shock’ after seeing the number of responses she got and called on people not to ignore their testimonies.

Donald Trump issued a half-hearted apology shortly after the video was released, saying he was sorry ‘if anyone was offended’.

But was forced to issue a video statement after the scope of the damage become clear.

Though during his apology, the Republican US presidential hopeful claimed his comments were â€˜nothing more than a distraction’ and that his comments were not as bad as former president Bill Clinton’s marital affairs.
