Fatim Jawara, 19, drowned while trying to reach Lampedusa in Italy.

Jawara was with other migrants attempting to cross from Libya to Europe when the boat she was traveling in capsized.

Fatim Jawara, who is the goalkeeper of the Gambia’s women’s national football team died in October while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe.


The goalkeeper died crossing the Mediterranean in the hope of starting a new life in Europe, her former coach has said.  So sad! RIP...AMEN
