Governor Udom Escapes Death As Church Building Collapses, Over 50 Dead (PHOTOS)

Akwa Ibom state governor, Emmanuel Udom escaped death as The Reigners Bible Church collapsed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State today, which resulted to the death of about 100 people.

According to an eyewitness, the governor didn't arrived at time the church programme he was suppose to attend in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, during which the tragedy occurred.

The Reigners Bible Church is located along Uyo Village Road, and was filled to capacity because its pastor was being consecrated as a Bishop. 

"Many people are buried under the debris as emergency workers continue rescue operation." he told AsbGist Nigeria

Victims have been taken to various hospitals and mortuaries in Uyo

The witness also told AsbGist that the Church was being renovated and upgraded because of the expected high number of guests on Saturday and Governor Udom Emmanuel was expected to attend the occasion, but, he was not at the church when it collapsed.

“The governor has gone to the scene and is presently there helping with the rescue,” he said.

At the time of writing this news report, over 100 people have been confirmed dead.
