“Wisdom rests [silently] in the mind and heart of him who has understanding, but that which is in the inward part of [self-confident] fools is made known.” Proverbs 14:33 AMP

I love the way the MSG translation interprets our opening scripture, “Lady Wisdom is at home in an understanding heart-- fools never even get to say hello.

You see, wisdom cannot settle until understanding is present. According to the MSG rendering, wisdom would only make an understanding heart her habitation.

A heart that has understanding is the heart that has the capacity for wisdom to settle in.

Wisdom and understanding are two terms that go hand-in-hand. The wisdom you get from the Word of God would not be productive if you do not have an understanding of the Word.

Wisdom expresses itself not by will or by choice. That is, when wisdom is present in a man, that man has got to move.

But many a times, this movement is decelerated or altered as a result of poor understanding of the Word of God.

Ephesians 1:17, “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:” From this scripture, we see that wisdom is a Spirit, a person.

The wisdom of God is ability from God.

This Spirit of wisdom and understanding has been bottled up in the person of the Holy Ghost. That is why for every time you pray in your human understanding, you limit the Holy Ghost.

When you activate the Spirit of God by praying in the Holy Ghost, He transcends your human understanding: He gets to the root of the matter.

God’s Word is wisdom to us.

The Spirit of God is what makes the Word produce in us as He is understanding to us.

DECLARATION
I have an understanding heart; therefore, the wisdom of God is at work in me.
