Tuesday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet, 30th May 2017) - A Citizen Of Zion

“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God” Ephesians 2:19

You may be living in the world, but understand that you are not of it. Your genetic coding is not that of the world. You are not just a citizen of the United States of America, or Russia, or Nigeria; you are a citizen of Zion. 

The MSG rendering of our opening text says,

“That's plain enough, isn't it? You're no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You're no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He's using us all--irrespective of how we got here--in what he is building.” 

How glorious! Before now, we were outsiders; that is, we were not citizens and as such, we did not have the rights and privileges of citizens. But now, by reason of Christ's death and resurrection, we have become God's own people. We now belong to the household of God. We are now citizens of Zion. 

Philippians 3:20 (AMP) says, 

“But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] Savior” 

Hebrews 12:22-23 reads 

“But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.” 

This is the family every God-child is born into. As a child of God, you are a citizen of heaven. Zion is your home. 

The AMP rendering says, 

“But rather, you have come to Mount Zion, even to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless multitudes of angels in festal gathering, and to the church (assembly) of the Firstborn who are registered [as citizens] in heaven, and to the God Who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect.” 

Your citizenship is already written in heaven. Live in this reality. God expects more from you – you were left on earth for a reason. Reach the lost today and present them perfect in Christ Jesus.

DECLARATION
I am born of God and a citizen of heaven. I function as a citizen of heaven. Though I may be in this world, I refuse to function like the world.
