Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet, 8th May 2017) - Designed For Your Glory

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” 2 Corinthians 4:17

The challenges and afflictions you go through in life are stepping stones to a greater glory.

For every affliction you go through, it was designed to bring out the best in you. The way of trials is a way designed for your glory. For every affliction you go through, it was not designed to kill you, but to make you better.

From our opening scripture, we see that God sees our reflection as light. That affliction you are going through that seems like a heavy burden, God sees it as light. For God, it carries no weight at all.

Learn to see things through the eyes (perspective) of God. Approach every affliction as light.

When you weigh the glory the affliction is working out for you, you would realize that it (the affliction) has no substance.

Observe again, that scripture says the affliction is but for a moment. That affliction was not designed to last forever. It is just but for a moment. But how quick the affliction would pass is dependent on you. You see, a goldsmith would not stop heating the gold, until he sees his reflection through that gold. That is, until the gold becomes so pure and well refined. We are God's gold. The fire (affliction) is the only way the beauty and quality in gold can be appreciated.

The affliction process is like that fire. You would not come out of that challenge until God sees Himself in you. God wants to bring out the gold in us that is why He allows afflictions. How long you'll spend in the fire is largely dependent on how long it would take you to be refined.

The affliction would never kill you; rather, it makes you better. For every affliction you successfully come out of, there is a whole new level of glory waiting for you.

The AMP translation of our opening text says,
“For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!]”

Embrace afflictions; they were designed for your glory.

DECLARATION
I recognize that that affliction was designed for my glory. I refuse to get bitter, but better.
