Thursday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 17th AUG, 2017) - A heart of gratitude

“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” Ephesians 5:20

Thanksgiving ought to be a lifestyle for the Godchild. Scripture tells us in 2 Thessalonians 1:3,
“We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth”.
The above scriptures tell us to give thanks always and for all things. Not just when you get that promotion, or when your football team wins the trophy. Even in seemingly unpleasant situations, you are to give thanks.

Scripture admonishes us that all things work together for our good (Romans 8:28). It is of utmost importance that as Christians we take up a heart of thanksgiving.

So many Christians in their quest to acquire wealth and all the good things of life many times fail to recognize all what God has done for them.

Many also do not recognize that even though they did not get that dream job, house, spouse or that million dollar contract; they have testimonies that no one else has. As such, they fail to give thanks to God.

There is always something to be thankful for.

We ought to be thankful for even those dispensations which appear dark and frowning. A dependent, grateful, and benevolent heart, manifested in habitual thanksgiving, is peculiarly pleasing to God.

When a man does something for you no matter how small; when you thank him, he is moved to do much more. This is the character of God.

Many of God's children have held back God's Hands on their lives as a result of their ungrateful heart. Solomon got a blank cheque because of the thanksgiving he gave.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says,
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
God's definition of success is anything that is in accordance to His plan and will.

Discover God's plan for you and see things through His eyes; only then would you learn to appreciate what God has done for you and where He has placed you.

DECLARATION:
I take up thanksgiving as a lifestyle. I have a heart of gratitude. I see through God's eyes.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE:
Philippians 4:6, Hebrews 13:15
