Saturday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet, 5th August, 2017) - Guard your heart

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” Proverbs 4:23

The MSG rendering of Romans 8:12-14 says to us today,
“so don't you see that we don't owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There is nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God's spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!”
It is often said that it's easier to get a man out of an environment than to get the environment out of him, reason being that a man's mindset is largely dependent on his environment and his mindset will continue to rule his life years after he has left that environment.

In the same manner if the Godchild does not consciously work out his mindset, his flesh will continue to rule him.

Romans 12:2 tells
“and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
You renew your mind with the Word of God.

And because the flesh always fights against the spirit, the Godchild has got to mortify the deeds of the flesh.

The word mortify does not just refer to modification but mortification (loss of face) this was our Master telling us to move from the arena of the things we are doing to changing to another type of life.

The deeds of the flesh e.g anger. Leave the life the normal man is acquainted with and move up to what God has planned for you.

The life of God in you works contrary to the life you were used to. In your walk with God, your mind can be your most powerful weapon or, your greatest obstacle. If you renew your mind with the Word of God, and guard your heart against enemy intrusion, you would not fail.

DECLARATION:
I live the life of God daily, I mortify my flesh daily. I put it under subjection to the Spirit of God in me. I am ruled and directed by the Word of God.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE:
Colossians 3:5, 1 Corinthians 15:31
