Saturday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 30th SEPT, 2017) - The blessed man

Pastor David Okoye
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Psalms 1:1 KJV

Every Christian is quick to make confessions such as "God has blessed me with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places." Ephesians 1:3 KJV.

Even though this is very true that the blessings have been made available to us as Christians; very few understand that there are still certain principles that ought to be applied.

The evidence of your blessing is as much your responsibility as it is God's.

The AMP version of our opening text doesn't only magnify the meaning of the word 'blessed' but also tells the attributes and dispositions that make a blessed man. It says,
Blessed (Happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.

It's unfortunate that the above doesn't describe many Christians today.

A lot do the exact opposite. Some wholeheartedly take up the advice of unbelievers without seeking counsel from their Creator. Others are the quiet observing ones who just 'hang out' with unbelievers, supposedly inactive but yet submissive to their deeds.

The MSG translation puts it as, slinking along Dead End Road. This is not the life we ought to live. Our lives as Christians ought to be exemplary; the sort of life that causes the world to envy us.

The proceeding verse goes ahead to tell where our desires ought to lie. The study, meditation and confession of God's Word are things that can't be ruled out of your life. You shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, bearing fresh fruit every month, never dropping a leaf; always in blossom.

This is the definition of a blessed man. You owe it to yourself and the Kingdom to live this life. Be blessed and be a blessing today.

DECLARATION:
I am the true definition of a man blessed of God. I am always in blossom, never dropping a leaf.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE:
Psalm 1:1-3; Joshua 1:8
