Jacob Zuma has resigned as the President of South Africa - "I have come to the decision to resign with immediate effect."
Zuma delivered a statement at the government's Union Buildings in Pretoria on Wednesday saying he would resign 'with immediate effect'
The ruling African National Congress party (ANC) had instructed Zuma to resign, saying its lawmakers will vote to sack him via a no-confidence vote in parliament scheduled for Thursday if he did not resign.
