Zamfara massacre: "Funeral is becoming a daily service" - Anger as Nigerians lament incessant killings
Nigerians on Friday took to social media to lament the continuous killings going on in the country, saying “every day is becoming a burial day. A funeral is becoming a daily service.”
This is coming after gunmen attacked Birane village, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, and killed 41 people in the process, according to residents.
In 2018 alone, killings have been reported in Rivers, Benue, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Adamawa, Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun States.
Nigerians, including Ekiti State Governor Fayose, Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo and Senator Shehu Sani are expressing their anger on Twitter with the hashtag #Zamfara #Zamfaramassacre.
I was highly disturbed when I read in the newspapers that 41 Nigerians were killed in Zamfara State. What is actually happening in this country? Why has bloodshed become so rampant? Why is the President silent?— Peter Ayodele Fayose (@GovAyoFayose) February 16, 2018
The bloodshed in Zamfara is yet another tragedy in a series. There is no enough tears to cry.Mourning is becoming part of our lives.Everyday is becoming a burial day.funeral is becoming a daily service. The most tragic of all tragedies is when tragedy is no more a headline.— Senator Shehu Sani (@ShehuSani) February 15, 2018
That the 17 Murdered in Florida gets more global media attention than the 41 Murdered in Zamfara,Nigeria tells more about the international community's selective approach and selective interest in worlds tragedy and by extension crisis.— Senator Shehu Sani (@ShehuSani) February 16, 2018
36 human beings were killed in Birani village in Zurmi Local Government Area, Zamfara, yesterday. They woke up with dreams and hopes of a better nation like all of us, only to meet their tragic end in the hands of another of Nigeria’s preventable dysfunctions: “unknown gunmen.” — Gimba Kakanda (@gimbakakanda) February 15, 2018

Nigeria is on the "road to Kinshasa".
The nation crumbles - while Lagos and Abuja remain oases of relative stability - but given this trajectory, the chaos will eventually get to Lagos and Abuja.
A massacre took place in Zamfara, everyone is relatively calm. We have been conquered. Our minds so messed up, our eyes seen so much blood that we don't blink anymore. We can not continue like this.— Integrity Mr (@Intergrity56) February 16, 2018

Buhari has to bring an end to this incessant blood shed!
He's got innocent blood on his hands!
If he can't deal, he should resign and go tend his cows in daura
We can't be celebrating the apparent defeat of BH while "unknown" gunmen claim lives in Zamfara and it's environs. We can't be tying the knot on one side while having a loose knot on the other. Insecurity is consuming us, it's making life difficult. #ZamfaraMassacre— Penabdul (@PenAbdull) February 16, 2018
My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families of those killed in Birani village in Zurmi Local Government Area, Zamfara. No place in Nigeria should be unsafe for our people to live in. May Almighty Allah comfort them.— Governor Dankwambo (@HEDankwambo) February 16, 2018
