If we give women too much opportunity, they will overthrow us - Nigerian lawmaker

A member of the House of Representatives, Muhammed Gudaji Kazaure, representing Kazaure, Gwiwa, Roni and Yankwashi Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, has warned against giving women too much opportunity because they will take over.

Kazaure made the comment on a day set aside to mark the International Women’s Day.

According to the lawmaker, women already “control men at home”.

He said: ”It is good to give women opportunities in politics, entrepreneurship because they play a good role in our lives.

”My fear is, the women control the men at home, if you give them too much opportunity outside the house, they will capture everything because most of the women are very intelligent.


“If you give them too much chance, one day, they will overthrow us. One day you will come here and find women everywhere in this chamber and they will mess up.

“If women understand this thing well well, they will vote us out.

“If women become 70 to 80 percent in this chamber they will take over. that is why God said let them stay under our control.”
