Sunday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 22nd April 2018) - The Zeal Of God

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. Romans 10:1-2

I get really disheartened when I see believers serving religiously; that is, without an understanding; without the knowledge. These set of believers are the ones that see Christianity as a religion; nothing more, nothing less.

The Christian life is the full package. It is everything God would have done if He were to be clothed like a man. Christianity is the existence of God in the realms of men.

It is the limitless life; one you keep discovering and unraveling all your life. It is a life that doesn't recognize limitations, failures, or setbacks.

It is the All Possibility life. But that is not what we would be dealing with today. For the next few days, we would be discovering more about the zeal of the Lord.

You see, every form of righteousness functions on a level of knowledge that the recipient receives. The zeal you have for a thing is propelled by the knowledge you have of that particular thing.

For example, if you are passionate about poetry, or athletics, there must be a knowledge that is fueling that zeal. In the same vein, the zeal you have for the Lord is dependent on the knowledge you have of Him. Understand this; there is 'a knowledge', and 'the knowledge'.

The AMP rendering of our opening text further explains 'the knowledge'. It says,
I bear them witness that they have a [certain] zeal and enthusiasm for God, but it is not enlightened and according to [correct and vital] knowledge.

The knowledge is that vital revelation you have of God that fuels and inspires you. The knowledge would produce in you the zeal of the Lord; whereas a knowledge would make you stay quiet.

The zeal of the Lord doesn't come by choice; it is functional on the knowledge. The zeal of the Lord creates a spiritual understanding.

DECLARATION
Lord, I let your zeal consume me. I am passionate and fervent towards the work of the Kingdom. The knowledge functions in me.
