Thursday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 19th April 2018) - Stay Hot
That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you... 2 Timothy 1:6 AMP
The Spirit of God dwells in anyone that is identified with Christ. Why most Christians seem to experience His inactivity in their lives is because they do not stir Him up on a constant basis. They leave Him dormant in their lives like an uncharged battery in a phone.
At those times when you feel a disconnection between you and God's Spirit is when you need to rekindle the spark. He didn't leave you, you only left Him inactive. This is when you need to start doing those things you ought to be doing.
When the fire is in place you get to the next step of fanning into flames. Go from being a slight fire into being flames. After being flamed up, you've got to keep burning. A fire has a way of protecting itself.
A Christian who's always burning can't have the devil ride over him. Ensure that nothing reduces or quenches your fire. A child of God has got to stay hot. There's no room for a lukewarm or cold life.
One way by which you can stay hot and constantly charged is by speaking in tongues. Praying in the language of the Spirit keeps you connected to Him and builds you up. Only then can He begin to effectively communicate and show you amazing things.
Now you see why Paul knew and did so much; …He spoke in tongues more than others. Rekindle your embers today, fan the fire in you into flames and keep burning all your life.
DECLARATION
I keep burning even as I engage the Spirit of God. I speak in tongues staying charged always.
