Monday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 23rd April 2018) - The Zeal Of God (2)

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. Romans 10:1-2

Many a time, believers who refuse to become committed in God's house are the way they are because they lack the knowledge.

The knowledge you have of a particular thing would determine your response to it. That is, you cannot be passionate about something when you do not have the knowledge about that thing running in you.

Every zeal is foundational on a backdrop or avalanche of knowledge. There is a particular knowledge you would have of God that would fuel the zeal you have for Him.

The word zeal is synonymous with enthusiasm, passion and ardour. The zeal of God is that burning desire you have for God.

The word 'zeal' is gotten from the Greek word, 'Zenca', which means jealousy and envy. When you get consumed by the zeal of God, you would see yourself becoming a jealous Son. Jealous in the sense that, you want it all, not for yourself, but for the Father.

You want a 100% to be accorded to God. Put away childishness irrespective of how long you feel you've been in church if your life is contrary to this laid out pattern by God's word, there's still more to do.

Attain maturity and put away childishness for good. You see, the zeal of the Lord is the zeal that Jesus Christ functioned with when He was on earth.

If you can figure out the knowledge He ran with, then you can equally be as passionate as He was towards the propagation of the Gospel and the expansion of the Father's Kingdom.

DECLARATION
I take up the passion of Christ. I arm myself with the knowledge. I am zealous for the work of the Kingdom.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE

Numbers 25:1-14, Colossians 1:9
