Mohamed Salah equals Ronaldo, Shearer & Suarez’s Premier League goal record

Mohamed Salah has equalled the Premier League record for most goals in a single Premier League campaign thanks to his 72nd-minute goal against West Brom on Saturday.

The Egyptian has been in incredible form this season, scoring 41 goals in all competitions, and has now notched his 31st goal of the Premier League campaign to tie the record for a 38-game season.

Salah is not only targeting one final goal to claim the record outright, but he also wants to break the record for a 42-game season.

Shearer (1994-95) and Andy Cole (1993-94) both netted an astonishing 34 times with Blackburn and Newcastle respectively.

Salah has the remainder of three final league games against Stoke City, Chelsea and Brighton.

Salah has scored, on average, a goal every 86 minutes in the Premier League this season, as well as registering nine assists.

Speaking about his pursuit of both this season’s golden boot and the all-time scoring record, Salah told Sky Sports:
Honestly as you can see, I have had a great season and still some games to go. For anyone the most important thing is to play good, to perform good, to score goals for your team. I am happy in the city, for the club and for myself for sure. It means a lot.
