Sunday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 27th May 2018) - Maturity
When I was an infant at my mother's breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good. (1 Corinthians 13:11) MSG
The King James version of the Holy Bible renders our opening text as:
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child…From this, we are brought to the knowledge of two realities.
The second reality we are brought into through the King James rendering of our opening text is that the immature child of God is one who speaks first before he understands and thinks. This can be said to be the peak of immaturity when a man talks before understanding and thinking.
Attain maturity by thinking on the word of God(pondering on it, meditation) understanding that all His words concerning you are true and sure, and as this becomes your mindset, speak in accordance to it and bask in its victory for the apostles tells us that, they believe and so they were enabled to speak.
This belief only comes when we have completed this three-step process of thinking, understanding, and speaking.
Put away childishness irrespective of how long you feel you've been in church if your life is contrary to this laid out pattern by God's word, there's still more to do. Attain maturity and put away childishness for good.
DECLARATION
I am inspired by His word and it daily grants me spiritual understanding into the knowledge of all things that have been made available for me. Thus my communication is perfect and I speak rightly.
