Thursday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 17th May 2018) - Unity of the Spirit

Pastor David Okoye
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3

We must endeavour, that is, work towards and do our utmost best to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Psalms 133:1 reads that it is good and pleasant for brethren to dwell together in unity – and not peace.

In the text above, we see that there is a difference between unity and peace. To God, unity is a thing of the Spirit while peace is physical.

When God instructed that we follow peace with all men, he was talking about our physical relationship with people. When there is no bond of peace, there will be no unity of the Spirit. The unity of the Spirit is founded on the bond of peace.

Anytime the devil discovers that God's people are dwelling in unity he will always try to destroy it by affecting their bond of peace. Once the unity of Spirit is disorganized, the Spirit of God will find it difficult to effect God's word in the lives of the believers.

'Endeavouring' is a continuous action. This means that every day of your life you've got to keep working this out.

Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of the Spirit in the binding power of peace. This is your platform for activating the blessing. (Psalms 133:3)

DECLARATION
I keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. I won't give the devil access to affect my peace.
