Friday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 1st June 2018) - Fruits of salvation
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:20
To have a proper understanding of our diet study today, it would be necessary to read the preceding verses of our opening text.
From verse 16 says,
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
You see, the best way to identify a particular tree is by observing its fruits; not its leaves, or root. Relating this to our study today; the easiest way to tell what kind of life a man lives is by his fruits.
The term, fruit, doesn't literally mean a type of fruit. Rather, it means what that man produces; what he yields; and what he gives out. The fruit refers to the characters and features. Many a time, if you do not know the fruit of a particular thing, it becomes difficult to maximize it.
That is, you would not be able to exhaust the possibilities of what you do not know. The fruit of a thing is as important as the thing itself. This is because it shows the identity. Salvation is something that the body of Christ has made so religious.
Salvation has been made so religious to the point that many of God's children do not know what it entails; they do not understand how to pursue the way of salvation. When I was really young in the things of God, I believed salvation was just about the altar call and then giving your life to the Lord.
I failed to recognize that salvation was much more than that. For you to fully understand what salvation is, you would have to recognize what the fruits of salvation are. You see, salvation is a process that starts with believing. The Bible tells us that our salvation cannot be complete until we get to heaven.
This shows that salvation goes beyond being saved. For the next few days, we would be focusing on the fruits of salvation. This is because you would not be able to enjoy the bounties of salvation if you do not know what it is.
DECLARATION
I harness every benefit that comes with salvation. I refuse to be religious; I pursue the way of salvation.
