Colombia ended Africa’s World Cup dream on Thursday after defeating Senegal 1-0 to top World Cup Group H.
The South American side finished with six points and Japan ended on four points, edging out Senegal on the fair play criteria. England and Belgium, who play later, will be the opponents in the knockout rounds.
Senegal are the first side in World Cup history to be eliminated on fair play points. Japan and Senegal are tied with 4 points but Japan qualified ahead of the Africans having recorded 4 yellow cards so far with Senegal recording 6 yellow cards.
