Sir Alex Ferguson released from hospital targets Old Trafford return
Ferguson retired in 2013 from management |
The former Manchester United manager has been recovering at Salford Royal Hospital, but has now returned home to be tended to by his family.
The Sun claims the 76-year-old is on the mend and is targeting a quick return to the director’s box at Old Trafford.
Ferguson wants to be back among the fans and club officials by the start of next season.
The Scot’s reported first words when he woke up from an induced coma was:
‘How did Doncaster get on?’
Ferguson’s son, Darren, is the head coach of Doncaster Rovers as he followed his father into management.
There has been a flood of well wishes and love for Ferguson ever since news broke of his ill health. Ferguson enjoyed unrivalled success at United as their manager for 26 years.
United won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and one Champions League trophy with Ferguson at the helm. After initially staying away from Old Trafford when he retired in 2013, Ferguson returned as a regular in the last few years with Jose Mourinho in charge at the club.
