"Cheap blackmail" - Buhari reveals why he is being blackmail by opposition

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday reiterated that politicians are blackmailing him with the incessant killings and clashes between herdsmen and farmers in Nigeria.

The President said this in Ekiti state, during a mega rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kayode Fayemi ahead of July 14 governorship election in the southwest state.


Buhari said, “May I again clear the air on the issue of herdsmen and farmers conflict. Many politicians in their mischievous attitude have been blackmailing me and the APC-led administration purporting that I have not taken any action on the issue because I am a Fulani man. This is a cheap blackmail.”

But Buhari said that he was committed to protecting lives and property of Nigerians, vowing to ensure that those instigating violence in the country are brought to book.

“The protection of lives and properties of Nigerians is my responsibility. This I have vowed to do and will stick to the oath of office. I assure you that measures are been taken to ensure lasting solutions,” he added.
