God will return Ekiti to PDP, says outgoing governor, Fayose
Outgoing Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, is confident that his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would be victorious in a suit it filed against the election of Kayode Fayemi as Governor of the state.
Candidate of the PDP in the July 14 governorship election, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, who is the Deputy Governor of the southwest state, is challenging the victory of Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayemi, who emerged winner in 11 of the 16 local government areas of the state, polled 197,459 to beat his closest rival, Olusola, who got 178,121 votes.
But Fayose has assured his faithfuls that Olusola would get a favourable ruling at the election Tribunal.
“I beileve that God will reclaim the July 14 mandate for us,” he said.
The governor made this known at a meeting with aspirants for the Federal and state Houses of Assembly, at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti.
“We will reclaim our mandate. Let me assure you that my destiny is tied to yours and I will continue to be committed to this cause until you retrieve your mandate,” he added.
“The Journey of life is beyond today, we have seen today but no one has seen tomorrow. I believe God will return this mandate.
“I appreciate your courage. Life is full of challenges and opportunities. Certain things happen for you to know who your real friends are. It gives you the stamina to carry on also. Ekiti people and even your distractors will celebrate you.
“For me, I have done my best for the election. We won and I have no doubt that we will win the battle again,” stated Fayose.
