Rohr names 23-man Super Eagles squad for Seychelles (FULL LIST)
FC Porto’s Kelechi Nwakali has been handed a call-up by Coach Gernot Rohr who announced his 23-man Nigeria squad for September’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.
Expectedly, injured captain John Mikel Obi was omitted from the squad, while there was no place for Elderson Echiejile but bulk of the players who featured at the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia made the list.
Handed a maiden call-ups were Kaduna-born SC Paderborn left-back Jamilu Collins and former Arsenal rookie, Semiu Ajayi with the quartet of Uche Agbo, Stephen Eze, Blessing Eleke and Musa Mohammed placed on standby.
The three-time African champions will be seeking to rekindle its chances of qualification to the biannual competition by beating the pirates after falling 2-0 to South Africa in Uyo last year.
Meanwhile, Rohr has revealed that his assistant, Salisu Yusuf, who is under investigations for bribery will not be part of the team for the September 8 showdown.
