U.S President Donald Trump reportedly described Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari as “lifeless” following their April meeting.

According to a source that spoke to the Financial Times, Trump allegedly told his aides that he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again, in reference to the 75-year-old Nigerian leader.

The revelation comes amidst the much anticipated meeting between Trump and President Uhuru Kenyatta at 8:45pm on Monday.

Kenyatta will be only the second sub-Saharan Africa leader to meet Trump, after Buhari, since he (Trump) took office.

Although, according to the Presidential Service Unit, the meeting between the two leaders will be centred on trade and regional security, it remains to be seen how Trump will react afterwards especially going by his January outburst when he referred to African nations as “shit hole countries.”

However, according to an article on the Financial Times, “Advocates of closer US-Africa ties hope his encounter with the younger, more urbane Mr Kenyatta, 56, will breathe fresh life into a relationship with a region that Washington is seen to have neglected as other countries, notably China, develop ever-closer trade and investment ties with the continent.”
