Fiba World Cup: D’Tigress reach quarter-finals after late scare

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have become the first African side to reach the quarter-finals of the Fiba World Cup after beating Greece on Wednesday in a tension-soaked knock-out game.

The Nigerian ladies won the thrilling game 57-56 after responding to a late fight back from the Europeans who had taken the lead after trailing the African champions in three quarters.

After securing their third straight win at the competition, the team coached by Otis Hughley’s will take on heavyweights United States in the last eight.
