Enyimba Fc captain, Mfon Udoh has said he is “shocked” after he was told he has been suspended by Enyimba for “gross misconduct” soon after he announced his departure from the club.

Enyimba announced Udoh was suspended for indiscipline till further notice in a letter to the forward dated September 7 and signed by club chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu.

“Mfon Udoh is under suspension,” insisted Anyansi.

“He has also been given his suspension letter for gross misconduct and the club is focused on our match this weekend (CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal vs Rayon Sports of Rwanda).

“The issue happened last week, but we didn’t make it public to answer a national call-up, but since he has gone to deceive the public.

“He is aware of his suspension.”

However, Udoh speaking with SCORENigeria denied the suspension report and said he is not aware of any suspension because “nothing like that happened”.

“Kola, I am so surprised and shocked by what you are telling me (that Enyimba have suspended me for gross misconduct),” he said.

“I have not heard of this till now that you are telling me.

“I did not receive such a letter from anybody, I have not heard of such a thing.

“I’m hearing this for the very first time because if I did, I would have told you in our first interview.

“But nothing like that happened.

“I believe the suspension letter was backdated to September 7.

“But if they insist on their claim, let them bring the acknowledgement copy of the letter with my signature on it.”

Udoh, top scorer in the NPFL in 2014 with 23 goals, had announced that he has quit Enyimba following the expiration of his contract by league season’s end.

This was his fifth season with ‘The People’s Elephant’.
