When Arsenal beat Hull City 3-1 on Monday night, it not only helped
the Gunners maintain the pressure on second-placed Manchester City but
also ensured the north Londoners joined just seven other European teams
with a century of goals this term.
Alexis Sanchez’s brace either side of Aaron Ramsey’s 33rd-minute
strike meant Arsenal joined Chelsea as the second Premier League side to
have netted 100 goals in all competitions this season.
The Gunners achieved the feat of scoring a century of goals in 51
games – the same number of matches taken by Jose Mourinho’s league
champions to have netted 105 goals this term.
Barcelona have scored a whopping 159 goals so far this season
But while the goals at the KC Stadium ensured the Gunners
sit only second to the Blues in England’s scoring charts, they also
meant Arsene Wenger’s side are the eighth team to achieve the feat in
Europe.
Wolfsburg, Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain have all scored a century
of goals or more this season while Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and
Barcelona all – unsurprisingly – make the list too.
Pep Guardiola’s side are one of the most highest-scoring teams in
Europe with 117 goals in 47 games, with Carlo Ancelotti’s team coming in
second place after netting 147 goals in 54 matches this campaign.
Way out in front, though, are Barcelona whose attacking trio of
Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been crucial in helping the
Catalan giants top the scoring charts with a staggering 159 goals in
just 53 games.
